New Routes Opened To Kedarkantha and Brahmatal This December

We have some good news for all those who found our Kedarkantha and Brahmatal batches full this winter season.

We have now opened two new routes to these treks!

These are new secluded routes with very little crowd. For treks like Kedarkantha and Brahmatal, this is a very big blessing.

The difference between the old and the new routes is that they start from a different location, go through a different side of the forest but finally get to the same destination and summit. They are exciting, fun and pristine.

You do not miss out on any aspect of the old route. But you get to trek on an exclusive trail.

Here’s a quick peek into the new routes.

Kedarkantha Route 2 – From Gainchwan Gaon

For Kedarkantha, the entire trekking trail of Route 2 is different from the Kotgaon route we usually take. We have opened it knowing that it matches up to our Kotgaon trail. We have done the trek through this route before and trekkers love it!

This trail from Gainchwan Gaon approaches the Kedarkantha summit from the North-West, whereas the Kotgaon base camp approaches it from further East.

Take a look at this map to get a better picture.

Here’s the itinerary for Kedarkantha Route 2

Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Gainchwan Gaon. We’ll organise transport from Dehradun ISBT at 7 am. IT takes around 8 hours to reach Gainchwan Gaon.

  1. I registered on 12th January for Brahmtal. i booked from Delhi to Kathgodam last month. Not pick up point is changed.
Will you arrange cab from Kathgodam?

    1. Hi Samyak, we will be organising transport from Kathgodam till January. So don’t worry about it. Just update this information on your dashboard so that your Trek Coordinator is in the know.

  2. Hi, i would like to book Brahmatal trek in the second half of December. I see two conflicting info on the trek duration – the itinerary page of your website says its for 6 days, but when i go to booking page it shows 4 days. Need clarification pls. And importantly, will there be atleast ankle deep snow? Thks

    1. Hi Santhosh, on the Brahmtal trek, you trek for 4 days (Day 2,3,4,5). You drive to the base camp and back on Day 1 and Day 6. I’m assuming that’s what you might be confused about. On the first day, you drive to Lohajung and reach the base by around 6 pm. You have the briefing and meet your Trek Leader in the evening. On Day 5, you return to the base camp by 3 or 4 pm. And after that you have the reflections and debriefing. So the duration is indeed 6 days long.

As for seeing snow in December, there will definitely be ankle-deep snow. From the information we have, there has already been some snowfall in the mountains. So you can definitely expect to see snow. 🙂
